Ethnos360, formerly New Tribes Mission, Facing Second Lawsuit for Sexual Abuse of Missionary Child, Kayla McClain

ORLANDO, FL [Press Release] (April 30, 2025) –The Haba Law Firm and BozLaw have jointly filed a second lawsuit against Ethnos360, a missionary organization that was formerly known as New Tribes Mission. The lawsuit alleges that New Tribes Mission changed its name in 2017 to Ethnos360 in part to hide years of sexual abuse of children within its corporation.

The lawsuit details that the brave survivor Kayla McClain was a child of Ethnos360 missionary parents. She and her family were sent to Indonesia to serve as missionaries. The lawsuit alleges that while there, Nate Horling, an adult missionary leader of Ethnos360 groomed and sexually abused Kayla McClain on numerous occasions. When the abuse was brought to the church’s Child Safety Team in Indonesia, church leadership minimized the abuse and took no actions to prevent future abuse or help Kayla McClain to heal from the trauma she endured.

The lawsuit details that Ethnos360 knew they had a pervasive sexual abuse of children issue within their organization - especially against their missionary children. Ethnos failed to adequately establish and implement safety policies to protect minors from sexual abuse in the mission field, and failure to respond appropriately to allegations of abuse. Further, the lawsuit alleges that Ethnos engaged in fraud when it misrepresented that the so-called “investigative” group, IHART, was actually investigating abuse and offering help to survivors; rather, IHART served as an extension of Ethnos360.

“It takes courage and bravery to demand accountability and we are honored to represent Ms. McClain as she seeks justice.” said Lisa Haba.
