Child Sexual Abuse Victim’s Attorney Criticizes Release of Identifying Information in Michael Caruso Case

ORLANDO, FL [PRESS RELEASE] (August 18, 2026) – The Haba Law Firm criticized the release of identifying information about a child sexual abuse victim in connection with the arrest of Michael Caruso, who was the Clerk of Courts of Palm Beach County. The Haba Law Firm represents the victim in this case.

“Child sexual abuse victims should never have identifying details about them released, and it is abhorrent that the child victim in connection with the arrest of Michael Caruso has been subjected to this breach. This is a clear violation of Marsy’s Law and has shattered the child’s privacy,” said Lisa Haba of The Haba Law Firm, the victim’s attorney.

“I call on all media outlets to immediately redact identifying details of this child victim in connection with this case in their stories. I urge all government officials to redact identifying details of this child in official documents and commit to strengthen their policies to protect child victims in the future,” she said.

Michael Caruso, 67, of Palm Beach County has been arrested on a 5-count arrest warrant and is expected to face felony charges for lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under the age of 12, lewd or lascivious exhibition, luring or enticing a child, kidnapping, and child abuse causing mental injury.
